PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Snow expected to move across Pennsylvania beginning overnight has prompted emergency declarations and school closures.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings for parts of central and eastern Pennsylvania from Wednesday night and into Thursday morning.

The archdiocese of Philadelphia announced Wednesday that all archdiocese and parochial schools would be closed Thursday. The Philadelphia School District later followed suit, closing all schools and administrative offices.

The city of Philadelphia has declared a snow emergency to begin just after midnight, which requires vehicles to be removed from snow emergency routes.

Officials say 360 state and contractor trucks will be out plowing highways in the Philadelphia region.

The governor and transportation officials are urging drivers to use caution, and to expect delays and speed reductions.
