A winter weather system is packing a one-two punch in northern New England.

The first round of snow created problems during the Tuesday morning commute - and for the Super Bowl celebration in Boston. A second round began moving into the region later in the day.

Tom Hawley from the National Weather Service says about 5 inches of snow is expected along the Maine coast. He said mountains of New Hampshire and western Maine could see 6 or 7 inches.

Hundreds of school cancellations were reported before the storm.

But the snow will be short lived. Hawley said the snow was expected to turn into rain overnight. The temperature is expected to warm up Wednesday before another slug of snow Thursday.
