Conservatives will get some true insider insight at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference — CPAC — later this month. Michael Reagan, the eldest child of former President Ronald Reagan, will be the keynote speaker at the American Conservative Union’s Ronald Reagan Dinner on Feb. 24, the highlight event of the four-day gathering.
The convivial evening is sponsored by the Heritage Foundation.
“Ronald Reagan spoke at CPAC 13 times and started his national political career there. We have honored him at the Ronald Reagan banquet for 42 years and we are especially honored to have a Reagan back at CPAC,” said Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union.
“Michael Reagan has spent his life dedicated to honoring his father’s vision of America through his essential work with the Reagan Legacy Foundation and we believe there are few who can match Michael’s ability to articulate how that vision can positively affect the lives of Americans in the 21st century and beyond,” Mr. Schlapp said.
A longtime host of conservative talk radio and broadcast commentator, Mr. Reagan himself is The New York Times bestselling author of “On the Outside Looking In, Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan,” and a new book “The New Reagan Revolution.”
As president of the Reagan Legacy Foundation, Mr. Reagan remains on a mission, he says, to “advance the causes President Reagan held dear.”
CPAC 2017, which typically draws some 13,000 people, will be staged once again at the glittering Gaylord National Resort on the banks of the Potomac River, seven miles south of the nation’s capital. The theme this year is “Reclaiming America’s Promise,” the speaker’s roster includes such notables as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. The event runs from Feb. 22-25; ticket information for the Reagan Dinner is available at the website.
