SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - A Syracuse man whose toddler son was killed in a gang-related shooting seven years ago has been sentenced for gunning down a bicyclist on his way home from work.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/2kpFYyG ) 25-year-old Rashaad Walker Sr. was sentenced Friday to 40 years to life in prison for murdering Tony Guyton Jr. in November 2015 as he rode his bike home after getting off work.

Walker was convicted of second-degree murder last month.

Prosecutors say the shooting may have been a case of mistaken identity, but a clear motive was never determined. Walker was also found guilty of being involved in a shooting 12 days earlier that left a man wounded.

Walker’s 20-month-old son, Rashaad Jr., died in 2010 after being hit by a bullet meant for his father.
