GREELEY, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a teenager who was killed when his car was hit by a freight train in Eaton.
The Greeley Tribune reports (https://goo.gl/ANKkcd ) 16-year-old Dallas Gavin Duran’s car was hit by a southbound train at a crossing Wednesday night. The train tracks run just east of U.S. Highway 85 at that location, and the crossing has stop signs.
Investigators have not released the circumstances of the crash.
Duran went to Eaton High School, where he played basketball and baseball. Former Eaton baseball coach Bob Ervin, who coached Duran this past spring, says the Greeley teen “was a coach’s dream - talented, yet humble.”
Duran was recognized and remembered before Eaton’s Patriot League district playoff basketball game against Platte Valley High School on Thursday.
