PONTOTOC, Miss. (AP) - Work to expand a portion of Mississippi Highway 15 to four lanes is running ahead of schedule but it will still be a few years before motorists can enjoy it.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/2kL7El0 ) reports that the work to create two new lanes north of Pontotoc started last spring and is scheduled to be paved in about two years.
Talbot Brothers Contracting of Nesbit won the $9.3 million contract in February 2016. The work covers about 6.4 miles from U.S. Highway 278 north to the Union County line.
Jamie Sullivan of Talbot Brothers says the lack of rain during last summer’s drought helped workers get ahead of schedule.
