Police say a woman visiting a Maui inmate convicted in a high-profile murder case tried to pass him drugs.
Police didn’t elaborate Tuesday on the contraband described as suspected illegal narcotics that the Maui woman tried to pass to Steven Capobianco at Maui Community Correctional Center.
A jury found Capobianco guilty of second-degree murder and arson in the death of Carly “Charli” Scott. She was five months pregnant with his child when she disappeared in 2014.
Police say the woman and Capobianco were arrested for promoting prison contraband. Police didn’t identify the woman. The attorney who represented Capobianco during the murder trial couldn’t immediately be reached Tuesday for comment on the latest arrest.
