EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A jury has found two men charged in a robbery and shooting death at a western Pennsylvania housing project guilty of second-degree murder.
The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat (https://bit.ly/2m9VoaM ) reports the jury reached a verdict in the case against 46-year-old Perry Henderson, of Mount Union, and 62-year-old Stanley Spriggs, of McConnellsburg, following nearly three hours of deliberations Tuesday night.
Authorities allege that they and another man went to Johnstown’s Solomon Homes in July 2015 to buy drugs from 22-year-old Thomas Peebles but decided to rob him instead and ended up killing him.
The third man, 22-year-old Kenneth Simmons, of Mount Union, pleaded guilty in June to third-degree murder and testified for the prosecution. Defense attorneys challenged his testimony and Henderson argued that he acted in self-defense. Police said Spriggs was the getaway driver.
