CHELSEA, Mass. (AP) - Police in Chelsea have charged a tractor-trailer driver with operating under the influence of alcohol after a crash that caused a transformer fire that cut off power in part of the city.

Douglas McClellan, of Plymouth, Ohio, was arraigned on Wednesday. His attorneys say McClellan was lost and on medication at the time of the Tuesday night crash.

Police Chief Brian Kyes says no one was injured when McClellan lost control of his vehicle and smashed into parked cars, fire hydrants and a utility pole.

Kyes says the 46-year-old McClellan struck the electrical transformer, causing it to catch on fire. The fire was knocked down before it could spread to neighboring buildings. Power was off for about 50 homes. Eversource has since restored the electricity.
