PHOENIX (AP) - A man who caused a serious crash near Interstate 10 after fleeing from police has pleaded guilty in court.

Maricopa County Superior Court says Joshua Hicks pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and one of leaving the scene of an injury accident. He will be sentenced on March 6.

Hicks originally faced 11 counts of aggravated assault and other charges for the September 2015 crash off Interstate 10 that left several seriously injured.

Police said Hicks fled form a traffic stop on I-10 because had 15 pounds of illegal drugs that he was suspected of planning to sell. Hicks fled when an officer asked him to step out of his car, exiting the freeway, running a red light and causing a crash.
