FREEHOLD, N.J. (AP) - Sheriffs in Monmouth County arrested one of their former dispatchers who they say texted in a bomb threat to the office’s 911 call center.
Sheriff Shaun Golden says 27-year-old Christopher Young was charged Wednesday with creating a false public alarm of a critical infrastructure for the December bomb threat.
Young allegedly used a pre-paid cellphone to send a message to the 911 dispatch center that claimed there was a bomb in the building.
A spokesman for the sheriff’s office says the Freehold man was relieved of his duties as dispatcher in October because he didn’t meet the proper training qualifications.
Golden says detectives were able to trace the message back to Young’s residence and he then admitted to the crime.
No attorney information was available and no phone listing was found for Young.
