GREAT FALLS, Mont. (AP) - The state Office of Disciplinary Counsel admonished the Cascade County attorney for allowing three law school graduates who hadn’t passed the Montana Bar Exam to work as deputy county attorneys.

The Great Falls Tribune reports (gftrib.com/2k07rpJ) John Parker appeared before the Commission on Practice on Jan. 11 to be verbally disciplined. He must pay the $2,100 cost of the investigation.

The October 2015 complaint alleged Parker violated the student practice rule which allows law school students to work under the supervision of a licensed attorney. The three people involved were no longer law school students.

Parker submitted his admission to violating the student practice rule in December.

Shaun Thompson, the chief disciplinary counsel for the Commission on Practice, says the discipline does not impact Parker’s ability to practice as county attorney.
