CLARKSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a man injured in a western Pennsylvania fire that killed his wife remains in critical condition.
Officials say Timothy Bikowicz jumped from a second-story window to escape the Clarksville fire, which was reported shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday. He was flown to UPMC Mercy, where he was listed in critical condition Sunday.
The Washington County coroner’s office says 40-year-old Chanel Bikowicz was pronounced dead almost three hours later.
Chief Derrek White of Denbo-Vesta 6 Volunteer Fire Department said the front of the house was fully involved and “it’s probably a total loss.”
White said much of the damage was concentrated near a gas stove in the front of the house, but he couldn’t say whether that was the source of the blaze. State police are investigating.
