ROANOKE, Va. (AP) - Sixth District Rep. Bob Goodlatte has declined an invitation to appear at a town hall meeting organized by a Roanoke grassroots organization demanding a meeting with him.
The Roanoke Times reports (https://bit.ly/2lqxdHh) Roanoke Indivisible, a local chapter of the national progressive organization Indivisible that formed in the wake of Donald Trump’s presidency, invited the Republican lawmaker to the “People’s Town Hall for Bob Goodlatte” at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Charles R. Hill center in Vinton.
Goodlatte held a telephone town hall with constituents Thursday evening. His spokeswoman, Beth Breeding, said in an email that Goodlatte won’t be able to attend Roanoke Indivisible’s event.
Goodlatte prefers to hold telephone town halls for which constituents must sign up using a form on the congressman’s website: https://goodlatte.house.gov/.
The leader of Roanoke Indivisible couldn’t be reached for comment
