KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) - Efforts to reduce the impact of flooding along the Sprague River proved successful as no damage to homes or injuries were reported.
The Herald & News reports (https://is.gd/yn1QwQ ) that flood waters continued to recede Monday and all flood risks along the river were expected to have passed by early Tuesday. Flooding began Friday after a week of heavy rains combined with warm temperatures that caused snow accumulation to melt. The river crested at more than 9.5 feet, about a foot above its flood point.
Klamath County Disaster and Emergency Services Manager Morgan Lindsay says many fields and roads were submerged in floodwaters but she has not yet heard of any homes damaged by flooding.
Lindsay says efforts by Klamath County to educate residents about impending flood risks and to make sure sand bags were available proved successful.
