An alert Metrobus driver helped catch a man with a gun Friday, authorities said.

The off-duty operator spotted a man on the NoMa-Gallaudet Metro Station platform showing the gun to another individual about 9:30 a.m Friday morning before boarding a Red Line train. The employee called in a detailed description of the man and his clothing to the Metro Transit Police.

The suspect’s train had only gone two stops when Metro Transit Police boarded it at Gallery Place and found a man matching the employee’s descriptions. Police identified him as Asomani Roberts, 19, of D.C., whom they said was carrying a loaded Remington 9mm RP9 handgun.

Mr. Roberts was arrested on charges of carrying a pistol without a license.
