WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a trooper was hurt during a struggle with a man they say tried to take the trooper’s gun.

The agency says the trooper saw a man using drugs Tuesday morning in Wilmington. Police say the trooper, who was in full uniform, left his patrol car and approached the man.

Authorities say the man resisted arrest, with the man and the trooper falling to the ground during a struggle. Police say a woman, who had been with the man, was taking things from the man’s pockets.

Investigators say when the trooper tried to stop the woman, the man tried to get the trooper’s gun.

Other troopers arrived and arrested the man. The trooper suffered a knee injury.

Thirty-seven-year-old Kyon Miller was charged with assault and other offenses.
