BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Workers have repaired several gravestones that were damaged when a car went off the road inside a cemetery.
Mark Shea tells The Bennington Banner he and Tyler Crane repaired seven headstones at Hinsdillville Cemetery in North Bennington Wednesday. Shea says they were hit last week when a woman visiting her family’s graves traveled off the road and down an embankment.
The woman was not injured, but Shea says two gravestones are unable to be repaired. He says the stones will be replaced in the spring.
Shea says he and Crane wanted to get the damaged stones back up for the holiday season.
Town officials say they are seeing if the woman’s insurance can cover the cost of repairs.
