BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) - A central Illinois woman has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in her mother’s July stabbing death.
The (Bloomington) Pantagraph reports that 22-year-old Christine Roush of Washington entered the plea Wednesday morning in the death of Teresa Ann Poehlman of East Peoria, who was stabbed and her body left in a secluded area in the Funks Grove Nature Preserve. Hikers found Poehlman’s body July 2 at the preserve southwest of Bloomington.
Roush faces between 20 and 60 years in prison at her January sentencing. Her co-defendant, 20-year-old Matt Isbell of Marquette Heights, also faces murder charges. He’s to go to trial May 7.
Roush had been scheduled for a status hearing Wednesday. In November she was found mentally fit to stand trial based on psychiatric evaluation results.
