Authorities investigating the shooting death of a 2-year-old boy at a home in Buckeye are declining to say who they believed killed the child.
Detective Tamela Skaggs says the only other person at home during Friday afternoon’s shooting was the boy’s 26-year-old mother.
Investigators say the mother was suffering from stab wounds when officers arrived.
They say she will be labeled as a “person of interest” in Friday afternoon’s shooting.
No arrests have been made in the child’s death.
The mother is being monitored by police as she receives medical care at a hospital.
Skaggs declined to say how the attack on the child occurred and how the mother was stabbed.
