BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - More than a dozen schools closed or delayed their start and commuters faced slick roads as heavy snow fell around upstate New York.

Close to a foot of snow was expected through Wednesday in parts of northern New York, central New York and south of Buffalo.

Several inches of snow had fallen by Tuesday morning, creating a messy commute and causing some schools north of Albany to cancel classes.
