BLYTHEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Police say a man who was fatally shot while trying to rob a pizza business in northeast Arkansas had produced what turned out to be a BB gun before being shot by a store employee.
Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson says 53-year-old Thomas “Tony” Price of Little Rock was shot to death about 10:30 p.m. Sunday while attempting to rob Domino’s Pizza.
Thompson said at a Monday news conference that Price entered the store, asked for the manager, then pulled out a handgun. The chief says an armed employee then shot Price, who was found dead at the scene.
Thompson says Price’s weapon functioned like a semi-automatic handgun, but turned out to be a BB gun.
Thompson said Price’s body was sent to the medical examiner’s office for an autopsy.
