Kendall Jenner may have been a child in 2010, but that isn’t stopping New York Fashion Week’s organizers from honoring her with “Fashion Icon of the Decade” award.

The fashion world will gather Sept. 7-13 to highlight the industry’s top designers, and included in the festivities will be a moment dedicated to the enduring style of Miss Jenner — age 21.

The New York Daily News aggregated some of the social media backlash that followed the announcement on Wednesday.

Some tweets include:

  • “Decade? She was 11 a decade ago. Have you SEEN what the Kardashians were wearing 10 years ago?”
  • “Girl poses with the same old boring face, didn’t even do 10 diverse photoshoots & y’all giving her ’Fashion Icon of The Decade.’ Tragic.”
  • “How has Kendall Jenner won a fashion icon award when her whole family needs a stylist to prepare every single outfit they wear?”

Ms. Jenner, whose fame is owed in part to the E! reality television series “Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” is one of the highest-grossing models in the world and boasts an Instagram following of 83.1 million people.
