TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - The driver of a roofing-company truck accused of fatally striking two bicyclists and injuring three others last year in Tucson has been sentenced to 10 ½ years in prison.

Pima County Superior Court officials say 30-year-old Brian Lynch changed his plea to guilty Friday.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of endangerment.

KVOA-TV reports that Lynch was scheduled to stand trial next week.

According to authorities and toxicology reports, Lynch had methamphetamine in his system when he ran a red light in March 2016 and fatally struck the five cyclists who all were in a bike lane.

A 72-year-old woman and 68-year-old man were killed. Authorities say the two were part of a bicycling group from Santa Fe, New Mexico.
