BUTLER, Pa. (AP) - Prosecutors are seeking more charges against a Pennsylvania woman they say overdosed on heroin while she was seven months pregnant.

Thirty-year-old Kasey Dischman was charged earlier in Butler County with aggravated assault on an unborn child. Authorities say her child was delivered by emergency C-section following the June 23 overdose and sustained lasting injuries.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (https://bit.ly/2v6zCwR ) reports that Assistant District Attorney Laura Pitchford argued Wednesday that Dischman should also be charged with child endangerment, corruption of minors and possession of drug paraphernalia. She cited the presence of Dischman’s 8-year-old daughter at the time.

Public defender Joseph Smith argued that the new charges aren’t supported by the criminal complaint and cited the presence of his client’s boyfriend, who he said may have been able to provide care.
