NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A Louisiana man accused of killing an eighth-grade girl following the death of his brother has been found not guilty of nearly all the charges against him.

Nola.com/ The Times-Picayune reports 22-year-old Eric “Teddy” Adams was found not guilty Tuesday of several offenses, including second-degree murder in the 2012 death of 15-year-old Christine Marcelin. He was convicted of obstruction of justice and is scheduled to be sentenced in September.

The KIPP Believe College Prep student was found face-down in a vacant lot after being shot 14 times. Prosecutor Irena Zajickova told jurors that Adams felt Marcelin had set up his brother and that the person who killed her had a personal vendetta.

Adams’ lawyer John Fuller said there is zero evidence that Adams was near the area when Marcelin died.
