MARANA, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say an Arizona motorist driving in the opposite direction on a freeway was killed.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the motorist was driving a pickup truck Monday morning east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10, west of Tucson.

State troopers received reports at about 2 a.m. that the driver collided with a tractor-trailer near the border separating Pinal and Pima counties. Both vehicles skirted off the road into the freeway’s median.

The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The Arizona Department of Public Safety did not provide the driver’s name or age.
