WAYNE, N.J. (AP) - William Paterson University’s president is retiring.
Kathleen Waldron announced on Tuesday she’ll step down in June, at the end of the 2017-18 academic year. She became the New Jersey school’s seventh president in 2010.
Waldron says she’ll turn 70 in September 2018 and she hopes the advances she’s made will have a lasting benefit.
The school says Waldron guided the development of William Paterson’s strategic plan, increased academic offerings and expanded the number of full-time faculty to more than 400. During her tenure, the enrollment of Hispanic students has grown to nearly 30 percent of the overall student population.
