JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Mississippi’s College Board approved the top five construction priorities of the state’s universities Thursday for the Legislature’s consideration when it meets in 2018. Overall, the projects would cost $512 million, far above what university leaders expect to receive in state bond money. Here’s the total amount requested for each institution, as well as the top two projects for each:

Alcorn State University



Total for the top five projects: $42.2 million.

Top projects: 1. Water and sewer infrastructure emergency repairs: $1.5 million; 2. Disability modifications, $10 million.

Alcorn State agriculture units

Total for top five projects: $6 million.

Top projects: 1. Child development laboratory center: $2.5 million; 2. Disadvantaged farmers and ranchers policy center: $1.1 million;

Delta State University

Total for top five projects: $35.9 million.

Top projects: 1. New president’s home: $1.8 million; 2. Campus roof and other repairs: $6.2 million

Jackson State University

Total for top five projects: $22.7 million.

Top projects: 1. Stewart Hall dormitory renovation: $7.5 million; 2. College of Education & Human Development, $6.5 million.

Total for top five projects: $98.6 million.

Top projects: 1. Kinesiology building: $30 million; New architecture, art and design building: $30 million.

Mississippi State Division of Agriculture, Forestry and Veterinary Medicine

Total for top five projects: $36.7 million.

Top projects: 1. Blackjack forest and wildlife research facility, $4.2 million; 2. Forest products complex renovations: $3.5 million.

Total for top five projects: $19 million.

Top projects: 1. General campus renovations, $5.7 million; 2. New culinary arts building, $10.2 million

Total for top five projects: $41.1 million.

Top projects: 1. Academic skills building improvements, $3 million; 2. Student union renovation and expansion: $13.9 million.

Top projects: 1. New science building: $15 million; 2. Data center renovation: $18 million.

Total for top five projects: $40.9 million.

Top projects: 1. Children’s hospital expansion, $24 million; 2. Emergency cooling, $5 million.

Total for top five projects: $51.5 million.

Top projects: 1. Bolton Hall renovation, $4.5 million; 2. Commercial food lab construction, $2 million.

University of Southern Mississippi - Gulf Coast

Total for top five projects: $30.7 million

Top projects: 1. Student resource center, $8.7 million; 2. Science building addition: $12 million.

Educational Research Center (College Board headquarters in Jackson)

Total for top five projects: $6.1 million.

Top projects: 1. Reroof Paul B. Johnson Jr. building, $750,000; 2. Replace mechanical air handlers, $1.9 million.
