CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - The victim of a fire at a rural southeast Missouri home has been identified as a 49-year-old woman.

Cape Girardeau County deputy coroner Dennis Turner says the fire apparently started early Tuesday in the bedroom of Deena Williams. The Southeast Missourian reports that Williams was unable to leave her home near Cape Girardeau and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cape Girardeau County sheriff’s Sgt. Sean Adams says two other residents were able to escape the fire.
