NEW YORK (AP) - Police in New York City are searching for two men who shot a gas station owner during a robbery attempt.
Authorities say the robbery happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday in Brooklyn. Police say two men tried to rob the Bedford-Stuyvesant Sunoco station owned by a 70-year-old former correction officer.
According to police, the gunmen forced two employees inside of the gas station before they saw the owner trying to escape. The suspects fired at the man before he returned fire with his own registered legal firearm. Police say the suspects fled.
Authorities say the owner was wounded in the leg during the violent exchange but is expected to recover. No other injuries were reported.
An investigation is continuing.
