WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts man who police say beat a man who died in a house fire has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault.
Twenty-eight-year-old Brayan Flores was ordered held without bail Monday in Central District Court in connection with the assault on 54-year-old David Carlson.
Police found Carlson’s body badly burned and with an apparent head injury after firefighters extinguished the blaze last Tuesday. It’s unclear what caused the fire. Officials say it was confined to a small area near the body.
Flores was arrested on Friday.
Worcester police say there are previous domestic violence reports involving both Carlson and Flores.
Flores is scheduled for an Aug. 7 dangerousness hearing.
