RENO, Nev. (AP) - The annual Burning Man event is still on for 2017 despite concern about its traditional homeland being flooded.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/2whQa0O ) the Bureau of Land Management issued Burning Man its permit to operate on Sunday.
The desert playa where the event takes place was partially underwater due to flooding from this winter’s heavy precipitation, but has dried out in recent weeks.
This year’s Burning Man event is themed “Radical Ritual” and is scheduled for Aug. 27 to Sept. 4.
Burning Man workers and volunteers will spend the next month laying out the infrastructure for Black Rock City and will spend a month after the event taking it down.
