A House Democrat is openly predicting that some of President Trump’s allies will “end up in jail” once the investigation into the campaign’s alleged ties with Russia runs its course.
“I wouldn’t be surprised after all of this is said and done that some people end up in jail,” Rep. Joaquin Castro, Texas Democrat, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer late Tuesday.
The FBI told Congress it is probing Russia’s alleged interference in the 2016 election and whether Mr. Trump or his associates played a role in the meddling. So far, there hasn’t been any hard evidence of collusion.
Mr. Castro, who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, declined to say which aide or official might land in jail, although he signaled it would likely be more than one.
“I wish I could, but I can’t at this time,” Mr. Castro said. “My impression is that people will probably be charged, and I think that people will probably go to jail.”
