DOVER, N.H. (AP) - A former chief of enforcement with the New Hampshire Liquor Commission says heās running for Congress.
Eddie Edwards, a Republican, said Wednesday he is running for New Hampshireās 1st Congressional District. The seat is currently occupied by Democrat Carol Shea-Porter, who defeated Republican Rep. Frank Guinta in November.
Edwards, selected as chief of the liquor enforcement division in 2005, retired in 2013. He served on boards focusing on public health, safety, veterans, children, and education. He also had worked in the Manchester district office for Guinta.
Edwards also served as police chief in the town of South Hampton.
He said “a strong conservative” is needed in the district who will stand on principle and represent the people.
A spokeswoman for Shea-Porter declined to comment Wednesday.
