SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Forecasters predict a strong spring storm that will pass through Northern California has the potential to flood a river, soak Bay Area cities and dump more snow in the Sierra.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2oapcYf ) Reno National Weather Service forecasters predict the storm will last Thursday through Saturday and could flood the Feather River at Portola in the Sierra.

Forecaster Scott McGuire says the storm will also bring 1 to 4 feet (0.3 to 1.2 meters) of snow, an unusual amount for the Sierra in April. He says it will be the biggest storm the Sierra has seen in April in a decade.

San Francisco and Oakland can expect 1 to 1.5 inches (2.5 to 3.8 centimeters) of rain, which Monterey National Weather Service forecaster Steve Anderson says is normal for this time of year.
