NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man who said he was shot in New Jersey’s largest city was actually shot in Pennsylvania.
Newark police responded to a hospital where 30-year-old Brian Evans told them he was shot in the city after a quarrel early Thursday. But authorities say Evans was really shot in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, late Wednesday night.
Police there say officers heard multiple gunshots and engaged in a high-speed pursuit of a vehicle fleeing the area of South Grant and East Northampton streets. Police say the chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a parked car and two suspects fled while firing a gunshot.
Police were not injured.
Evans is held by authorities in Pennsylvania and is not available for comment.
