LE CLAIRE, Iowa (AP) - An eastern Iowa man who broke his baby daughter’s bones has been given probation and a suspended prison sentence.

Court records say 34-year-old Jonathan Rose, of Le Claire, was sentenced Wednesday in Scott County District Court. He was given three years of probation and five years in prison, suspended. He’d pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment resulting in injury.

Police say Rose took his daughter to a Davenport hospital July 25, where she was found to have a broken leg and at least three broken ribs. Rose said he became frustrated that he couldn’t get his daughter to stop crying and that he “pushed on her hips to check her legs from a previous incident when he heard ’a pop.’” He also admitted to squeezing the baby.
