LOS ANGELES (AP) - Strong northwest winds are sweeping across parts of Southern California.

The National Weather Service says an even stronger surge is expected Thursday night and early Friday, especially in Los Angeles County.

A small craft advisory is posted along the coast and there’s a gale warning for the outer waters.

Forecasters also say confidence is growing that there will be a Santa Ana wind event on Saturday across a broader span of Southern California, pushing temperatures well above normal and lowering humidity levels.
