JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for the death of his girlfriend’s toddler.

The Florida Times-Union (https://goo.gl/f2iGXJ ) reports that 28-year-old Todd Jerome Howell was sentenced Thursday. He pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder.

Authorities say Howell had been watching 22-month-old Kylieann Burress in November 2013 when the child became unresponsive. Doctors later said the child died from shaken baby syndrome.
