Fargo Fire Department calls at a record high in 2016

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - The fire department in North Dakota’s largest city had a record number of calls in 2016.

Fargo Fire Chief Steve Dirksen tells KFGO radio (https://bit.ly/2p1sgGi ) that his department responded to nearly 10,500 calls last year, including 234 house fires.

Fire calls were less than 3 percent of the total. More than 60 percent of the calls were medical or rescue responses.

False alarms including many at apartments added to the call numbers. Dirksen says fire officials next week plan to meet with the area apartment owners group to discuss reducing those calls.?
