NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - There is a slight risk of severe storms bringing large hail and strong winds to the southern Plains states.
The National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, says the strongest storms are expected Sunday afternoon and night from the Texas Panhandle, across much of the northwestern half of Oklahoma and into southeastern Kansas.
The SPC says hail the size of a quarter and winds approaching 60 miles per hour are the most likely danger, but that there is also a slight risk of tornadoes in western Oklahoma and the eastern Texas Panhandle.
The area includes 2.1 million people in a 52,000-square mile (134,680-square kilometer) area.
