WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (AP) - Authorities have charged a former teacher and football coach of burglarizing his neighbor’s home.

Old Lycoming Township police tell PennLive.com (https://bit.ly/2dyYVf8 ) 49-year-old Frank Girardi Jr. stole a large amount of cash and a gun. Police say he used the money to buy drugs and exchanged the weapon for cocaine and prescription pills.

Girardi is held on $175,000 bail. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.

Girardi was an assistant football coach under his father, who retired as coach at Lycoming College. He later served as head coach at Jersey Shore Area High School, where he taught for more than 20 years until he was terminated last year.
