PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say a man sleeping in a park woke up to the sound of gunshots and discovered he’d been shot.

Sgt. Vince Lewis says the man reported seeing a suspect running away after he woke up at about 2 a.m. Tuesday in a park located near South Seventh Avenue and the Salt River.

The suspect is described as a white man with glasses and wearing a white shirt.

Lewis says the man is expected to survive his injuries and that there’s no immediate indication that the incident is connected to a series of shootings along Phoenix streets.
