PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Housing sales during August in Rhode Island continued to outperform the same period last year.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2ctrZap ) sales were up 14.5 percent last month compared with August 2015. The Rhode Island Association of Realtors says the median house price was $245,000, a 4.3 percent increase from the median price a year ago.

The association said in its monthly report Friday that single-family home sales have increased from the prior year every month since November 2014.



Multifamily house sales were up by nearly 12 percent in August and the median sales rose almost 10 percent to $197,750.

Joseph McCarthy of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage says neighborhoods are coming back and price points are on the rise.
