THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (AP) - The Los Angeles Rams have waived cornerback Steve Williams and promoted defensive back Isaiah Johnson from their practice squad.

The Rams (1-1) announced the moves Friday before flying to Tampa Bay for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

The Rams signed Williams two weeks ago, but never activated him for a game. He spent his first three NFL seasons with the San Diego Chargers.

Los Angeles signed Johnson to its practice squad on Sept. 6, three days after the Lions waived him. The Georgia Tech product spent his first NFL season with Detroit.
