RANDOLPH, Miss. (AP) - Authorities are looking for a man and a woman who wounded a Pontotoc County postmaster in an attempted robbery.
The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (https://bit.ly/2cYg7uu) reports Postmaster Virginia Duff was shot in the left arm Friday morning at the Randolph post office. The community is 10 miles southeast of Pontotoc.
Restaurant owner Tammy Lindsey says Duff burst into her nearby business bleeding and begging for help. Lindsay says Duff told her a man jumped the counter, demanded money, then shot her. The wound wasn’t life-threatening.
Lindsey says Duff is postmaster for three Pontotoc County towns - Algoma, Randolph and Toccopola. The Algoma office is open weekdays from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Pontotoc County Sheriff Leo Mask says deputies are examining nearby surveillance cameras, seeking images of the suspects’ vehicle.
