DENVER (AP) - A Thornton man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of his wife has been sentenced to 36 years in prison.
The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/09XWbp ) 50-year-old Hector Frias was sentenced Friday for the Dec. 20 death of 48-year-old Norma Frias. Deputies found the woman shot in the head in her husband’s SUV after they were called to a fender bender.
Investigators say Hector Frias was found several hours later drunk and covered in blood.
According to an arrest affidavit, he told investigators, “It’s my fault. I did it, but it was an accident.”
Deputy District Attorney Brett Martin told the court that the couple’s marriage was deteriorating and Norma Frias had decided to leave.
