KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Authorities have arrested an Independence woman charged in the death of her infant last year.
The U.S. Marshals Service says Whitley Evenson of Independence was arrested Friday in a store parking lot in Post Falls, Idaho. She’s charged in Jackson County with second-degree murder in the death of her six-week-old child.
Jackson County prosecutors accused Evenson of suffocating the baby. Evenson was out on bond when she failed to appear for a court hearing in July.
The Kansas City Star reports (https://j.mp/2dDXQnd ) that the search for Evenson involved deputies and task force officers from the U.S. Marshals Service in four states. She’s being held in Idaho awaiting extradition back to Jackson County.
