TUPELO, Miss. (AP) - The city of Tupelo plans to use some left over federal disaster aid from a tornado in 2014 to purchase some heavy equipment.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports (https://bit.ly/2d8MXdu) the city will receive about $438,000 in FEMA relief to compensate for the destruction of a former fire station.

The money will be used to purchase equipment for the Tupelo Public Works Department.

Chuck Williams, Public Works director, says the current plan is to purchase two dump trucks, a shovel truck and a wheeled excavator.

The fire station was decommissioned in 2010. The facility was used for records storage until the tornado significantly damaged the building.
